Top of the A3 range the new Audi S3 Sportback has hit the shores of Australia, set to cost around $80,000 for the top of the range model and for the first time will include Audi magnetic ride, Audi Park Assist, new exterior and interior design.
Audi's new S3 Sportback also features the award winning 2.0 TFSI engine, pumping out 188 kW of power through it's direct injected, turbo charged engine, making the S3 a tough competitor. 0-100km in just 5.8 seconds with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h, while only consuming 8.5 litres per 100 km on the combined cycle, which is pretty good judging by these figures.
The 2.0 TFSI, turbo charged engine comes with a six-speed manual transmission with reduced shift travel, supplying power to Audi's quattro powertrain which is fitted as standard in all of Audi's S models.
The A3's chassis has been further refined with the likes of aluminium swivel bearings, wishbones, stiffer chassis bearings and the electromechanical steering which give a more sportier feel that increase cornering precision.
sports suspension integrates a range of lightweight aluminium components which lowers the body by 25 mm and 17" brake system with sports brake pads further ensures handling.
The new S3 Sportback features a few exterior design including a chrome-plated radiator grille, vertical double bars, and a front bumper with an aggressive spoiler lip. The Interior is draped in leather, having Silk Nappa leather sport
seat, S design multi-function leather sports steering wheel, BOSE speaker system and Bluetooth mobile phone preparation are a few of the many standard features.
Safety is not overlooked as the new S3 Sportback comes standard with ESP
(Electronic Stabilisation Program), incorporating ABS, Traction Control
ASR, and an Electronic Differential Lock EDL. SIDEGUARD head and curtain
airbags for front and rear passengers, together with side and front
airbags round out the passive safety package.
